Ways to Support the Library

By contributing to the Ashby Library Fund, you will help:

  • Preserve and Maintain the Building: Ensuring the structural integrity and historical beauty of our 1901 building and its addition.
  • Create Ongoing Endowments: Supporting art, music, and science classes and performances to enrich our community’s cultural landscape.
  • Enhance Children’s Programs: Facilitating greater engagement in children’s performances and activities, fostering a love of learning from a young age.
  • Protect Library Services: Shielding our library’s essential services from economic fluctuations and ensuring uninterrupted access to resources and programs.

The Friends strive to extend our library’s capacity through dollar gifts, volunteerism, and program support. Become a Friend of the Library. No experience is required.

We are often asked “what does the food pantry need most?”

Items that we often run out of or run low on include:

  • Milk (shelf-stable only such as Parmalat brand – including nut milks)
  • Cans of protein (tuna, chicken, Spam, Vienna sausages, etc.)
  • Soups
  • Nut butters
  • Jam
  • Oats
  • Cereal
  • Granola bars
  • Beans
  • Rice
  • Pasta
  • Muffin mix
  • Chicken broth
  • Crackers
  • Fruit (cans or cups)
  • Microwaveable foods
  • And more!

As a volunteer, you can help us with a variety of tasks at the library. Basically, if you see a need, you’re welcome to fill that need!

Some of these tasks include:

    • Helping us set up and break down events
    • Making signs or other DIY projects for us
    • Watering plants and helping us keep them alive
    • Running programs or clubs related to your interests
    • Shelving books

Community Organizations

The purpose of the Society is to cultivate and to encourage historic interest in the Town of Ashby and its vicinity.

Visit the Historical Society exhibit in the Historical Room. Learn about Prince who fought for American independence. Tila who supported women’s home businesses. How Ashby’s vote for the Know Nothing Party in 1854 echoes through to current events.

The Friends of the Ashby Grange Hall were formed to restore, and transform this architectural gem in the heart of our community into a dynamic hub of activity and engagement for our community. The group was formed after the Historical Commission revealed the results of a survey that demonstrated widespread community interest in restoring the building as a community center. The group is comprised of individuals of all walks of life. It includes life long residents and newcomers to town, retirees and young people all focuses on the objective of preserving this treasure.

Welcome to the Ashby Land Trust of Ashby, Massachusetts. We are an accredited Land Trust and a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to preserving the rural character of Ashby. In addition to our land preservation efforts, we sponsor educational, recreational, and social events and activities that celebrate the natural world. Ashby Transfer Station & Recycling Center Schedule

The Ashby Animals, founded in 2020, are a local dirt bike club dedicated to strengthening both the riding community and the town of Ashby. Active in the community, the club supports and donates to local organizations while working to bring more safe and legal riding events to the area. We are NETRA affiliated and have partnered with Massachusetts OHRV to increase awareness and improve convenience for riders. Our focus is community, safety, support, and responsible riding.  And most importantly, having fun!

Ashby Fire Department

The Ashby fire department and it’s members provide emergency fire and medical services to the town of Ashby, MA. The Ashby fire department is a combination on call department supplemented with full time week day staffing serving the residents of Ashby. Weekend days are covered by Per Diem FF/EMT’s in addition to call personnel. Overnight coverage for EMS is provided by on call EMT’s on “Hard Call” requiring them to respond to any emergency in the 12 Hour overnight period. Between these personnel and our dedicated On Call FF/EMT’s we provide 24/7 emergency services to the Town Of Ashby. The Ashby Fire apparatus include three fire engines with 1000 gallons of water each, one 2500 gallon water tanker, one forestry truck, a fire/rescue UTV and operates two dedicated BLS ambulances. The Ashby Fire EMS association a notable community support organization works along side the department to support the town and the members the department.

This beautiful former dance hall is set in the pine groves of Ashby Massachusetts. With seating for almost 100 people it is sure to be an affordable choice for your function.
