The Town of Ashby is located in North Central Massachusetts, along the New Hampshire border, approximately one hour northwest of Boston.  With roughly 3,200 residents, the town is rural in nature, with small farms and businesses sprinkled about, and ample outdoor recreational opportunities in and around the town, including Willard Brook State Park and Mount Watatic State Reservation.  Ashby’s Public Library is located in a beautiful historic building in the center of town, across from the Town Common.

The ideal candidate should have public library and supervisory experience, be energetic, self-motivated, and able to simultaneously manage multiple tasks with only general supervision.  Minimum education requirement is a BS/BA degree.  Completion of the four-course Library Director training from MBLC is a plus.

The Acting Library Director will report to the Board of Trustees.  This part-time position is 19 – 25 hours per week, including 2 evenings and 4 hours on Saturday. Compensation is $19-21 per hour, commensurate with experience.  A partial benefits package may be available.  The expected tenure for the position is 3-6 months.

TO APPLY: Applicants should forward a cover letter and resume to:  AFPL Board of Trustees, 895 Main St, Ashby, MA 01431 or via email to AFPL.trustees@gmail.com.  References will be requested prior to a second interview.
